IT. IS. FINISHED!!

Well, we're officially done with this round of the 21 day fix! I thought it was Monday, but hubbins gently showed me that 21 days would end Sunday. Suh-weeeet!

I'm sure you're all chomping at the bit to get our results... Ready??

I lost 13.3 lbs, and the bearded wonder lost 27 lbs. TWENTY-SEVEN. As in an average of 9 lbs a week! I can't get over it. I mean I'm pumped about my weight loss, because 13 is still an incredible amount to lose in 3 weeks, but he literally lost twice as much! I'm also down 9 inches and he's down 14. GOOD LORD, Y'ALL.

We're endorsed by The Rock. True story. (Thanks Reaction Gifs!)

I'm so unbelievably proud of him, and of me, really. We've both worked really hard on this (though he's worked harder- I can't lie. =P ) and we have the results to show it.

So while we're saying we're officially done for this week, we're kicking up round 2 this coming Monday. We don't really have a reason not to. We're not as strict on things this week, but definitely next week will be kicked back into full on Fix mode. I've still had my shake for breakfast, I still brought fix-approved food for work today... With the food in our kitchen, we just have fix-approved food, so why not just keep on with it?

Some helpful hints from the other side that I feel no one warned me about...

Dishes. You're going to do so many freaking dishes. You'll probably do them every day. It's annoying, and tiring, and probably expensive since you're going to use your little tab thingies in the dishwasher every time. For us, there's 2 of us doing it so that's double the containers for meals at work. I had 1 small bowl for cottage cheese & pineapple, another bowl for my lunch, a small container for hummus. 3 bowls, plus the 5 Fix cups used to measure it out, times 2 (since it's for 2 people), and you suddenly have a lot of dishes from 1 day.

Walls. You're going to metaphorically run into them, unless you're amazing at cooking/prepping ALL of your food already. And working out daily on top of that. I told you all last week that I was losing steam. I loved the results (even though they slowed down greatly from week 1), but seriously- so much effort is put into this. We'd make a huge batch of brown rice once a week, cook a roasted chicken once a week, cook veggies every couple of days, etc. Before we start next week, I want to make a huge batch of turkey meatballs and turkey burgers so we'll have them to grab quickly throughout the next round and hopefully spare us some "on the fly" prep.

Support. Seriously, the support makes such a huge difference. Find someone to do it with you if you're single. We don't have a "coach" or anything, so we've just leaned heavily on each other. It's made a world of difference. We'll be your support if you need it! :D

SO. Here we are, 40 lbs lighter and 23 inches smaller between the 2 of us. In 3 weeks. It's kind of crazy, but we're really happy and generally don't feel deprived of anything. We went to the movies last night, had a "treat" meal, and we're back to normal today. I feel like a lot of my mentality towards food has changed. I don't feel the need to eat ALL THE THINGS I can find. It's kinda nice. =)

Care to join us on February 8?? Round 2 of 21 Day Fix is starting! :D

    1. If I get enough sleep, I definitely have more energy. (I say this because regardless of how much sleep I got before, I was *ALWAYS* tired.)
I feel less bloated, my skin doesn't feel tight and uncomfortable, and in general I don't feel so... bleh. =P

Shame Eating

I found the above image on the interwebs and it always makes me laugh. All.the.time. It's kinda true though, right? IF you've ever had any kind of food addiction then you know the sweet sweet embrace of "one more" handful of kettle corn (ahem), or "one more" piece of bread, or whatever . I was joking with my co-worker that I might as well be shame eating out of the Costco-sized bag of Kettle corn on my counter in the dark, licking the sweet and salty remnants off my fingers. That I can't be trusted alone with it. That I grab a bigger-than-small bowl and PILE it up, lamenting the few rogue pieces that make it to the floor. Another colleague overheard us and said she used to do that with angel food cake. She would sit it on the passenger side and just drive, picking at the fluffy confection. I know a girl who could knock out an entire family size container of Sara Lee pound cake. So friends, those are a few confessions. Using the powers of anonym

He Likes Big Butts and He Cannot Lie!

Do I have any fellow big booty girls in the audience? Or I suppose big booty brothers? Maybe? Anywho. I've had a rather prodigious posterior for my entire life. I think part of it is that I've always been a fat kid, and part of it is probably genetics. Even when I lost weight in high school, it was still pretty hefty. In fact, I recall walking with a friend of mine and hearing 2 guys behind us talking. "Look at that fat a**", his friend said "where" and the other guy said "the one on the right". I was, of course, the girl on the right. It's a moment that's resonated within me for a long time. That happened in probably 2003 while I was a young 16 year old, and 10 years later it's still a moment that occasionally wraps me up in it's insecure and hateful arms. It didn't help that a year or so later I was in a parking lot with friends, feeling cute in a spaghetti string tank top and jeans, and a complete stranger  drove by

Bittersweet

This post was initially written on March 29, 2021.  Going through infertility of any kind is so unbearably hard. I can't speak to everyone's experience, but as a couple who's had "unexplained infertility", it feels like perpetual waves of grief.  It feels like hopelessness. It feels like everyone's getting what you so desperately want while you sit there with empty arms. It feels like constant heartbreak seeing joyful posts of new pregnancies. It feels like isolation because you turn down invitations to showers and parties, for fear you won't be able to not  cry.  It feels like you're being punished because biologically nothing is wrong but you still don't have a baby. This has been our reality for the last 3 years and 7 months. Being open about our journey has been so rewarding but now it's taken the hard turn. I have to tell the sweet women I've been commiserating with that my turn is here. I'm pregnant.  Of course I know exactly what
