I'm tired, ya'll.

I don't say "ya'll" often. I think I'm too tired to think of a different way of addressing the general populace. Plus, saying "I'm tired, general populace" is just too darn long.

Anyway. I went to the gym today despite reeaalllly not wanting to. I'm glad I did though! I mean I'm sore and sleepy, but I think that's what'll make this weekend so nice, since I won't work out at all Saturday or Sunday. But I think going to the gym Monday-Friday makes up for that. =)

I've officially started adding cardio in to my workouts, so I can be wedding dress ready in a few short months! My week should look like this when I'm done:

Monday: 30 mins Workout A from NROLFW
Tuesday: 30 mins kick butt elliptical time + bench dips
Wednesday: 30 mins Workout B from NROLFW
Thursday: 30 mins kick butt elliptical time, no bench dips. The Redhead is sore.
Friday: 30 mins kick butt workout A from NROLFW

A month-ish ago I would've slapped you in the face if you told me I was going to spend Monday-Friday in the gym.

I wouldn't have called you a whore though; I'm nicer than he is.
But now, on the other side of it, I'm pretty happy with what's happening already. I've dropped 2 lbs this week, and as far as I can tell I've lost an inch each off my hips and my waist. My co-workers are even starting to notice the difference, which is also suuuuper encouraging.

I feel like I'm on a kick that's actually going to result in a change this time. I'm making changes instead of drastic cuts in my diet. I'm eating about ½ as much as I used to, and trying not to snack nearly as much.

Wanna hear something crazy? I got an iced venti nonfat caramel macchiato from Starbucks today. WAAIIIT DON'T FLOG ME! I only drank half of it. Pinky promise. The other half is still sitting in the Sbux cup in the fridge waiting for the treacherous journey down to my gullet tomorrow morning. So not only am I saving money by paying 1 amount (though this drink was freeeee!), but I'm saving a lot of calories! Woohoo! I'm not saying I plan on drinking a Starbucks drink everyday (though we all know I could), but hey if I want a treat, I don't feel too bad about a tall (small) drink. =)

I've seen this floating around on Pinterest, and I have to say I am feeling sorry as I go through this process…

I'm really, truly, terribly sorry that I wasn't serious about this last year.

I'm sorry that this summer I won't be wearing the cute kelly green or pale yellow shorts I set out to don as a result of my hard work.
I'm sorry that instead of toned arms I could've been sculpting for the last year, my proposal night pictures have flabby arms flying in the winds of our twirls and spins.
I'm sorry that I've been so lazy- having great intentions but not doing a darn thing about it.
I'm sorry that I'm starting so late.
I'm sorry that I have to work twice as hard now in ½ the time.

That being said though…

I'm not sorry that I started at all.

I've got just under 4 months to make up for a lost year. I know I won't hit the goals I originally set, but I want to drop a few pounds and gain muscle. That I can definitely do in this time. And you know what? If that doesn't happen... I still like myself. I'm still a happy person. I still have great friends, a good job, a wonderful fiance and a bright future.

Shame Eating

I found the above image on the interwebs and it always makes me laugh. All.the.time. It's kinda true though, right? IF you've ever had any kind of food addiction then you know the sweet sweet embrace of "one more" handful of kettle corn (ahem), or "one more" piece of bread, or whatever . I was joking with my co-worker that I might as well be shame eating out of the Costco-sized bag of Kettle corn on my counter in the dark, licking the sweet and salty remnants off my fingers. That I can't be trusted alone with it. That I grab a bigger-than-small bowl and PILE it up, lamenting the few rogue pieces that make it to the floor. Another colleague overheard us and said she used to do that with angel food cake. She would sit it on the passenger side and just drive, picking at the fluffy confection. I know a girl who could knock out an entire family size container of Sara Lee pound cake. So friends, those are a few confessions. Using the powers of anonym

Of pizza and fudge [cake]

There comes a time in every girl's life when she has to make a choice. 1 slice or 2? "It's margherita pizza, redhead. How bad can it really be?" I stood in line at a local pizza place eyeing up their margherita pizza with it's circular discs of cheese, smattering of tomatoes, and dried basil leaves. "Yeah, how bad can  it be?" Sometimes in life you order 2 pieces. Sometimes those 2 pieces come out to you falling off of 2 paper plates. Sometimes you look and say "SWEET MERCY I'M ONLY EATING ONE OF THOSE!!". Today was not a day to only eat one of those. Well to be fair, it was, I just didn't bother to acknowledge that until I'd plowed my way through ½ of my second  slice. I can sit here and rationalize that I dabbed up a TON of oil, and it's thin crust, and blah blah blah, but bottom line… There was also chocolate fudge cake .  I know, right? I looked at the cake I'd said I'd split with my wonderful

Frustrations & Fertility

The Bearded Wonder and I got married on a sunny Saturday afternoon in September 2013. Barring a few minor hiccups, the day was pretty perfect. Per the (unfortunate) societal norms, people started asking questions like "So, next comes baby, right?" or "When are you guys going to start popping out kids?".  Between me, you, and the Internet, I was a virgin when I got married so I was in ZERO rush to start having kids. I wanted to enjoy being married for awhile, hopefully travel, and just settle in to living with this person I'd never lived with before.  It's funny to me now, looking back on those first few years. The Bearded Wonder had some job transitions which led to some tight finances. We got by (not without help), but I was in a constant state of fear that I'd get pregnant. We were just floating with the 2 of us, but adding a baby in the mix? Yikes. Definitely not the right time. I remember calling my best friend in a panic, "I'm crav
